Kepco SPC hits safety milestone, gets award

DUE to its strict observance of its safety policies, Kepco SPC Power Corp. in Naga City, Cebu achieved a safety milestone of more than two million safe man-hours, or 943 days with no lost time accident.

“This achievement is proof that if everybody makes safety a priority, accidents can be prevented,” Kepco SPC president and chief executive officer Jong Ryoon Yoon said in his speech during the celebration of the company’s remarkable safety milestone held on July 2, 2019.

Kepco SPC Corp. was also awarded the Safety Excellence Award by the Workplace Advocates on Safety in the Philippines Inc. (Waspi) during its fifth Occupational Safety, Health and Environment Annual Convention last June 7.

The Waspi, through its award, recognizes, motivates and inspires companies with strong commitments in complying and implementing safety and health programs.

“This recognition serves to remind us that safety is not just a responsibility of a few, but a collective accountability and shared responsibility of everyone in this plant,” Yoon said.

A thanksgiving mass and blessing of the plant were held to kick off the safety milestone celebration.

The management of Kepco SPC Power Corp., and the company’s employees, contractors and all manpower agencies’ personnel affixed their signatures on the safety commitment wall, promising to always prioritize safety.
