CEBU City Mayor Edgardo Labella ordered an investigation on a business process outsourcing (BPO) company after it appeared to be violating his executive order and the labor laws.

With BPO workers and companies exempted from the Stay at Home Order of Cebu City Government, most BPO employees have resorted to staying in their offices while the entire city is under enhanced community quarantine.

Labella, in an interview with SunStar Cebu on April 4, 2020, directed the City Legal Office to conduct an investigation on the company.

“I will have that investigated... it is not just a violation of the executive order, but also on the laws of labor,” said Labella.

He also said that the City will help those workers who have no place to stay in.

Labella said the City’s hotline is open for those BPO employees who have concerns regarding their work during the enhanced community quarantine period.

The City’s assistance hotline are: 0923-937-8599; 0923-937-8596; 0909-943-1037; 0909-940-2158. (JJL)
