JOB order (JO) employees of Lapu-Lapu City Hall will receive a parting gift from outgoing Mayor Paz Radaza in the form of cash incentives.

At noon of June 30, 2019, Lapu-Lapu City will have a new administration under outgoing Pajo Barangay Captain Junard Chan, while Radaza will take over the city’s lone congressional seat that was vacated by her daughter Aileen, who decided to sit the midterm elections out.

During Radaza’s last meeting with City Hall workers on Monday, June 17, 2019, as part of the City’s 58th Charter Day celebration, she promised the 1,943 JO employees that they wouldn’t be going home empty-handed.

They will receive their Conditional Compensation Premiums (CCPs) within this week, she said.

The news was welcomed by JO employees who showed up even though Monday was declared a non-working holiday in the city.

Regular, casual and coterminous employees, Radaza said, already received their bonuses at the end of last month.

The CCP will be based on the total number of days rendered by a JO employee from Jan. 1, 2019 to May 31. The amount is estimated to be between P9,000 and P10,000.

“Ang ilang (JO) pay morag one-month sab (ang kuwentada) (It looks like JO employees will receive an equivalent of their one-month pay),” Paz explained.

The JO employees’ contracts are set to expire at the end of the month. There is a big chance these won’t be renewed by the new administration, which is why they have been nicknamed “TomJones,” or taman na lang sa June (until June).

However, the outgoing mayor advised the JO employees to still apply, especially those who had been known to be hardworking, as they might still get hired.

“I heard talks that all City Hall employees will be assessed by the new mayor’s team to determine if their services will be retained or not,” Radaza said in Cebuano.

Meanwhile, the incoming congresswoman is hopeful that the P80-million Arts and Design Building will serve as the training ground for the City’s 11 teacher-scholars who studied in Taiwan for two years.

“So karon, unsaon nato og apply ang ilang (scholars) nakat-unan (how do we apply what they learned) for two years? The school board allotted P80 million for the construction of the building at Looc High School,” Paz said.

All that remains is for the project to be bid out since all the requirements for its implementation are in place, she added. (From FVQ of SuperBalita Cebu, PJB)
