AN ELECTION officer who was previously assigned in Cebu City and Oslob town in southern Cebu has assumed head of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) office in Carcar City on the first day of registration for barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections on Monday, July 4, 2022.

Omar Sharif Dilangalen Mamalinta said this a big challenge for him since Carcar City is so far the biggest local government unit that he will be handling.

Mamalinta said that aside from the new registrants, they will also process transfer of registration, correction of entry and reactivation, among others.

Lawyer Marchel Sarno was also reassigned to the Comelec Cebu City North District after being transferred to Comelec Lapu-Lapu during the national and local elections.

Lawyer John Rex Laudiangco, spokesperson for Comelec, said the registration for barangay and SK elections will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Mondays through Saturdays, until July 23.

The barangay and SK election is scheduled on December 5, 2022. (PAC, TPT)
