A man was caught on closed circuit television (CCTV) footage stealing the sewer hole steel bar along the portion of L. Jayme St. Sacris Road in Barangay Bakilid, Mandaue City, on Tuesday dawn, January 24, 2023.

Officials of Barangay Bakilid are now on heightened alert following the incident and the area has been cordoned off to prevent accidents.

Roy Lumapas, Bakilid's village chief, said on Wednesday, January 25, 2022, that he mandated all the village guards (tanods) to intensify their foot patrol in the streets with the assistance of the police to prevent the incident from happening again.

Around 1 a.m. on Tuesday, a man aboard a motorcycle was caught by the barangay's closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera stealing one of the sewer hole steel bars at a portion of L. Jayme St.

As the footage shows, the man pretended to pee near the steel bar. He appeared to be observing the surroundings before lifting the steel bar.

The man then left the steel bar slightly opened and came back about five minutes later, pretended to pee again, put the steel bar on the motorcycle seat, and fled from the scene. (HIC)
