Man jailed for 'abusing' wife

A MAN was put behind bars after he was accused of physically abusing his wife in Dalaguete town, Cebu on Tuesday, November 5, 2019.

The man was identified as Florencio Yonto, 52, a resident of Barangay Dumalan of the said town.

Police Major Rolan Aliser, Dalaguete police chief, said Yonto's wife, Guillerma, personally reported the incident at their station.

In her narrative, Guillerma said that she managed to escape her husband after he pulled out a gun and threatened to shoot following in an intense fight they had.

She added that whenever they get into an argument, her husband always resorted to violence.

Alister said that police officers immediately responded to the report and arrested Yonto inside his home. He was caught in the act of holding a gun which he tried to hide inside his sling bag.

Yonto willingly surrendered to police.

Police recovered a .357 revolver and three bullets from Yonto's possession.

Yonto was detained at Dalaguete Police Station and will face domestic abuse charges. (BBT of Superbalita Cebu; RGT)
