A 49-YEAR-OLD man was arrested for allegedly assaulting his mother in San Miguel, Barangay Linao, Talisay City, Cebu Wednesday dawn, June 8, 2022.

Patrolman Ariel Balde, investigating officer of Talisay City Police Station, identified the suspect as Ronald Amante, a resident of Barangay Linao.

Balde told SunStar Cebu that around 3:20 a.m. Wednesday, Amante’s mother, Felomina, personally appeared at the police station with visible injuries.

She then reported that she was strangled by Amante.

She said that while she was sleeping, Amante unplugged the electric fan. The plugged the electric fan back, but when she turned around, she saw Amante standing in front of her door.

Without any hesitation, Amante strangled and punched her.

The neighbors were awakened by the mother's scream, prompting Amante to flee.

Balde said that based on their investigation, Amante had been mistreating his mother, who reported the latest incident to police as she could not take it anymore.

"Permi na gyud ni pasakitan ang biktima sa iyang anak, kining maong suspect ug karon lang ang mas grabe, mao nga nipakitabang na gyud siya sa mga awtoridad kay di na niya maantos," Balde said.

Felomina was brought to the Cebu South Medical Center as she had injury on her left eye after Amante punched her.

Balde said the mother is determined to file a case against her son.

Personnel of Talisay City police were dispatched to arrest Amante.

Amante is now under the custody of the Talisay City police and will face charges for attempted parricide. (GDC)
