THE first councilor of Barangay Cubacub, Mandaue City died while his companion was injured when the garbage truck they were riding was strafed on P. Burgos St., Barangay Alang-Alang, Mandaue City at noon yesterday. The councilor was identified as Edgar Bihag, 58, a former barangay captain of Cubacub. The injured was identifed as Rolando Vega, 57. Vega was a nephew of Paulino Vega, who was also killed last Monday. The two were on the passenger side of the truck driven by Cubacub Barangay Captain Almario Bihag. Senior Supt. Julian Entoma, director of the Mandaue City Police Office, said that when they were attacked, the three were on their way to see him to talk about the Parojinog syndicate members allegedly in their barangay. Entoma said the truck was moving slow because of traffic. Then a man whose face was covered fired from the side of the road. Councilor Bihag was hit in the chest and died at the hospital. Vega survived a gunshot wound in his side. (FMDD)
