THE Mandaue City Government spent P3 million to put up Christmas lights and decor at its City Hall and public plaza.

General services department head Marivic Cabigas said P500,000 of the budget was allocated to the purchase and construction of structures where the decorations were placed.

She said P2.5 million went to the purchase of lights and decor.

At 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 2, 2019, the City will hold a Christmas lighting ceremony.

Cabigas said the objective of displaying such Christmas decor is to amaze the Mandauehanons.

She said millennials do not have to go to other places. The teenagers can take pictures of the decor or take selfies and post the images on their social media accounts.

According to Cabigas, Mayor Jonas Cortes entrusted her office to make Mandauehanons happy during the Christmas season.

She said they decided that the Christmas decor would have a gold motif as Mandaue City celebrated its 50th Charter Day last Aug. 30. (KFD)
