“QUALIFIED” was how Cebu City Councilor Margarita Osmeña described Bando Osmeña Pundok Kauswagan’s (BOPK) final slate for the 2019 midterm elections.

Osmeña, though, said she will no longer be part of the line-up since she has decided not to seek reelection or run for a higher position in next year’s polls.

“I’ve never had those plans, anyway. From the very start, I volunteered to run for councilor almost eight years ago. Circumstances then prodded me. But it was a personal decision at that time to run. Those circumstances are not present anymore and I don’t have any political ambitions,” she said.

Osmeña said she hopes elected officials in the city will uphold respect regardless of political color.

“I found out that even in your senior years, you can still learn. I started when I was 61 and that’s old for some people. But if you keep your mind open,” she added.

As for BOPK’s slate, the councilor said it will be composed of new political aspirants, incumbent officials and old bets.

Personalities that are included in the possible list of candidates for city councilors include incumbent Councilors Sisinio Andales, Alvin Arcilla, Joy Augustus Young, City Human Resource and Development Office head Marie Velle Abella and Department of Social Welfare Services chief Lea Japson.
