MORE than 2,400 fully grown marijuana plants were recovered by local police in a suspected plantation in Barangay Tagbao, Cebu City on Friday morning.

Operatives of the Cebu City Force Mobile Company (CCFMC) led by Police Lt. Col. Randy Korret led the operation which discovered the marijuana plantation.

Aside from the CCFMC, operatives from the Police Drug Enforcement Group (PDEG) Visayas and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Central Visayas were there to assist in the operation.

Korret said the recovered marijuana plants amount to at least P1 million.

Most of the recovered plants were three to six feet tall and were already fully grown.

Korret said they recovered the marijuana plants during their five-day operation along Barangays Babag, Bonbon, Buot-Taup, Sinsin, Sudlon 1 and 2; and Tabunan.

Korret said a certain Michael Racoma Cubong reportedly owned the plantation.

But when police got there, Cubong was no longer there.

Police were able to recover a few stalks of marijuana while they also disposed of the other plants by burning them. (from BBT of Superbalita Cebu/JKV)
