Sunnexdesk

INVESTIGATORS of the Minglanilla Police Station have identified the person who may have participated in the murder of Staff Sergeant. Alfredo Pagaling early Saturday morning, Aug. 31, 2019.

Cebu Police Provincial Office Director Roderick Mariano said the possible gunman is a fraternity member who was involved in a shooting incident in Talisay City on the same day.

Mariano clarified that the assailant was riding a motorcycle, not a white van.

When the gunman saw the police car, he possibly thought he was about to be arrested, said Mariano. The gunman drove near and shot Pagaling at close range.

The victim had been patrolling the national highway in Barangay Linao-Lipata before he was murdered.

Mariano refused to divulge the name of the fraternity member as the investigation is still ongoing.

As to the shooting incident in Talisay City, it happened around 2:30 a.m. in Barangay Liano last Saturday.

Talisay City Police Station Chief Orlando Carag refused to divulge the identity of the shooting victim, a member of Alpha Kappa Rho fraternity.

He believes the victim’s shooters are the ones who shot Pagaling as Linao is just a kilometer from Linao-Lipata.

The Akrho member survived the incident after he was rushed to a hospital.

After Pagaling’s murder, Mariano ordered his personnel to conduct more checkpoints and to watch for their safety while on patrol duties. (FROM AYB OF SUPERBALITA CEBU / KAL)
