Motorcycle driver, 46, dies in collision

A DRIVER was killed after his motorcycle collided head-on with a speeding van in Barangay Granada, Boljoon on Friday afternoon, Oct. 4, 2019.

Luciano Villamor, 46, a resident of Barangay Pungtod, Oslob town, was driving his motorcycle home when at 2 p.m. on Friday he attempted to overtake another vehicle in front of him.

Police Senior Master Sergeant Fernando Toledo of the Boljoon Police Station said Villamor encroached on the opposite lane to overtake the other vehicle but failed to return to his lane, resulting to a direct collision with a van driven by Ramil Cabago, 46, a resident of Barangay Basak, Mandaue City.

Advisory

Emergency responders immediately brought Villamor to a nearby hospital but he died upon arrival.

After the incident, Cabago surrendered to the police. He is currently detained at the Boljoon Police Station, pending the filing of charges against him.

Cabago is set to be charged with reckless imprudence resulting to homicide unless Villamor’s family decides to settle the matter amicably.
