Pagasa-Mactan: Expect rainy weekend in Cebu

METRO Cebu can expect scattered light to moderate with at times heavy rains Saturday, December 26, until December 27, 2020, due to two low-pressure areas (LPAs) that entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) at 8 a.m. Saturday.

Al Quiblat, chief of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa)-Mactan station, said Metro Cebu's weather will be mostly cloudy until Sunday, which may cause rain-induced landslides and flashfloods to prone areas.

He, however, said the two LPAs are less likely to develop into tropical depressions in the next 24 hours.

At 10 a.m. on Saturday, the first LPA that entered PAR at 8 a.m., based on all available data, is at 50 kilometers East southeast of Zamboanga City. The other LPA, as of 10 a.m., was at 315 kilometers east of Guiuan, Eastern Samar. (WBS)
