FROM Team Rama, Barug Team Rama and Barug PDP-Laban (Partido Demokratiko Pilipino–Lakas ng Bayan), the local opposition group in Cebu City is now officially named as Partido Barug (Bayanihan Advocates Rallying for Unity and Good Governance). The omission of the prominent Rama family name from the group’s name, though, is not the only major change the opposition is introducing. In a Nov. 23 resolution, the First Division of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) granted the application of Partido Barug as a registered and accredited regional political party. According to former Cebu City mayor Michael Rama, Partido Barug founder, their name change and petition for accreditation as a regional party is in anticipation of the planned implementation of a federal government system.
