PASSENGERS of mv Siargao Princess that sank off the coast of Sibonga, Cebu on Thursday, Nov. 7, 2019, have already returned to their homes following the incident.

Lieutenant Junior Grade Michael John Encina, Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) District Central Visayas spokesman, confirmed they already sent back the last batch of passengers back to Tagbilaran City in Bohol.

While those who hail from Cebu, including the three passengers who swam to Carcar City, were sent home as well.

The three suffered minor injuries and received treatment.

Before they were sent home, PCG gave them food and clothes to wear, Encina added.

Encina said during their investigation, Antonio Conag, the vessel’s captain, said the fastcraft sank after taking too much seawater from heavy waves.

The vessel’s captain told PCG the weather was fine that day and even the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) didn’t issue a gale warning advisory.

The PCG station in Bohol also allowed the vessel to disembark from Catagbacan Port in Loon to Sibonga.

Encina said the vessel had complete documentation, such as a safety certification and a certificate of public convenience from the Marine Industry Authority Central Visayas. (JCT)
