A SECURITY guard was arrested for allegedly firing his gun several times in Barangay Daanlungsod, Toledo City, Cebu, on Saturday morning, August 13, 2022.

The suspect was identified as 49-year-old Winceslao Estrella.

Staff Sergeant Fredenil Cabañero, desk officer of the Toledo City Police Station, said several unknown callers had complained that they would get terrified every time Estrella fired his gun.

However, police believed Estrella was only trying to scare his enemies in the area as the latter reportedly had a lot. They also received reports that the suspect would fire his gun whenever he got drunk.

“The suspect has been on the police blotter several times even before the pandemic. This year alone, there were two incidents involving the suspect that made it on the blotter,” Cabañero said in Cebuano.

Regional Trial Court Branch 59 Judge Judilyn Menchavez also issued a search warrant against Estrella that resulted in the confiscation of a 12-gauge shotgun with three live ammunition, a 9mm pistol with five live ammunition, a .38 revolver with two live ammunition and a .45 colt pistol with five live ammunition.

The suspect could not present any documents for the firearms.

Estrella is currently detained at the custodial facility of the Toledo Police Station, pending the filing of charges against him. (GDC)
