THE Provincial Intelligence Unit and the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit of the Cebu Police Provincial Office (CPPO) confiscated three kilos of shabu in a buy-bust operation early Monday morning, April 12, 2021, in Brgy. Catarman, Cordova.

The police identified the suspect as Joven Engalan Silong (alias Joven), from Sitio Mahahay, Brgy. Pasil, Cebu City.

Silong was killed during the operation that involved a shootout between the suspect and the police.

After noticing that his buyers were policemen, he pulled out a .45-caliber pistol, but the police were the first to shoot him down. He was shot thrice in the chest and died on the spot.

The police seized from Silong the three-kilo shabu with a Dangerous Drugs Board value of P20.4 million. A pack of brown-colored illegal drugs was reportedly made only in Mindanao.

According to the police, the source of Silong’s drugs pointed to a drug lord in Central Visayas who is imprisoned in the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa.

They also confiscated the buy-bust marked money of P1,000 that was placed on top of the P500,000 boodle money, and a motorcycle with no plate number.

The Regional Intelligence Division, Police Drug Enforcement Group, 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company and Municipal Drug Enforcement Unit of the Cordova Police Station also joined the police in the buy-bust operation. (AYB / with NRC)
