PRO 7 receives P1M for legal aid from Luym

A PRIVATE group donated P1 million for the Police Regional Office (PRO)-Central Visayas personnel who are facing cases for performing their duties.

Businessman Douglas Luym gave the legal assistance on Monday morning, January 14.

This was not the first time Luym and his friends helped government forces. He gave financial aid to the families of the slain 44 Special Action Force troopers in Maguindanao three years ago and the victims of the landslide that hit Barangay Tina-an, Naga City last year.

The assistance to PRO-Central Visayas personnel came from a fund-raising activity, a golf tournament.

PRO-Central Visayas Director Debold Sinas welcomed the donation, saying it can help his personnel who were involved in legitimate operations.

Policemen who are facing criminal and administrative charges because of their illegal activities cannot receive legal aid.

Sinas said they will not give special treatment to any businessmen in exchange for the legal aid. (From AYB of SuperBalita Cebu/KAL)
