PERSONNEL of the Mandaue City Police Office (MCPO) started riding public utility vehicles (PUVs) on Friday morning, Dec. 21, to secure commuters from criminal elements.

Senior Supt. Julian Entoma, MCPO director, said the “Pasaherong Pulis (Passenger Police)” is a program tasking uniformed police officers to randomly ride jeepneys and tricycles during the holidays.

During the launching of the program, Entoma also rode a jeepney.

MCPO’s six police stations were instructed that two police officers should ride together in one PUV. Each station assigns a motorcycle-driving police officer to follow the vehicle carrying the two officers.

Entoma also went to the Cebu North Bus Terminal (CNBT) in Barangay Subangdaku to inspect the facility and remind commuters to always be on alert.

He and personnel from the community relations branch also distributed leaflets for safety tips.

Entoma said they have put the security in place as they expect passengers to troop to the facility on Sunday, Dec. 23, and Monday, Dec. 24. From FMD of Superbalita Cebu / KAL
