Security guard accidentally ‘shoots’ self

A SECURITY guard died after he was hit by his service firearm which he accidentally fired on Saturday dawn, Nov. 26, 2022, in Sitio Laguna, Barangay Green Hills, San Fernando town, southern Cebu.

Isagani Bajarias Pelimer, a 44-year-old security personnel of Chicumi Agriventures Slaughtering Services and a barangay tanod, was brought to a hospital in Carcar City where he was declared dead.

Corporal Dhex Anthony Balaod of the San Fernando Police Station told SunStar Cebu that the factory workers checked the area where they heard the gunfire and discovered the victim already bloodied with a gunshot on the left side of the body around 2 a.m. Balaud said the gun holster and sling bag of the victim also bore holes.

The police official believed that the sling bag had swung and hit the gun, causing it to fire.
