BARANGAY Tisa, Cebu City chief Renato “Ringo” Pacaña is planning to require habal-habal (motorcycle-for-hire) drivers in his village to undergo a drug test.

This after some of those arrested in an anti-illegal drug operation conducted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in his barangay last Wednesday, July 27, 2022, were found to be habal-habal drivers.

Due to the drug operation, Pacaña is contemplating on implementing several measures to regulate habal-habal drivers in his barangay including, and one of which is requiring them to organize in order to identify the drivers operating in their area.

Another measure he plans to implement is the conduct of a surprise drug test on all habal-habal drivers in his barangay to determine who are using illegal drugs.

Those found to be positive of illegal drug use during the surprise drug test will be suspended from operations and will be required to undergo rehabilitation.

Pacaña said he wants to coordinate with PDEA 7 officials to ensure that those measures are implemented.

On Wednesday, July 27, PDEA 7 operatives raided a suspected drug den in Barangay Tisa, during which 12 people were arrested. (BBT / JKV)
