WHALE shark watching in the southern town of Oslob will be open to the public starting Friday, July 31, 2020.

The tourism activity was suspended when Cebu Province was placed on community quarantine to contain the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) at the end of March.

On Saturday, Aug. 1, diving will once again be allowed in the southwestern town of Moalboal. The following day, the Municipality of Barili will launch its All-Terrain Vehicle Adventure and Trekking.

Those who want to participate in these activities need to register in the Provincial Capitol’s web portal.

To maintain health guidelines and protocol like physical distancing, the Capitol has limited the number of tourists in Oslob to 1,000 persons daily. Since tourists from outside the province are still not allowed to enter, only local tourists can visit these places.

The Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Infectious Disease has lifted the ban on tourism activities in areas under modified general community quarantine (MGCQ).

Cebu Province has been on MGCQ since July 16.

Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia had bared her plans to focus on reviving the tourism industry that has been badly affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. (ANV, PJB)
