THE female traffic enforcer who was caught on video slapping a food delivery rider in Consolacion town on Tuesday, August 17, 2021, has been suspended for 15 days.

Consolacion Mayor Joannes “Joyjoy” Alegado made the decision to suspend Maricris Vallejos, 40, following what she did to GrabFood rider Marcelino Sabucido, 23.

Vallejos’ suspension took effect on Thursday, August 19.

During her suspension, Vallejos will not receive a salary for 15 days, according to Feliculo Leciones, head of the Consolacion Traffic Enforcement Service.

Vallejos was also ordered to pay P1,000 as penalty for not wearing a face mask during her altercation with Sabucido.

Leciones told Superbalita Cebu that while Vallejos was doing her job, she also committed some lapses.

He said the 15-day suspension has to be enforced to prove to the public that the municipal government of Consolacion is not favoring anyone.

He said Alegado is also very strict when it comes to enforcing health protocols, such as the wearing of face masks and face shields, and observing of physical distancing.

Leciones appealed to the public, though, not to condemn Vallejos.

“Di sab unta dayon mo judge tang tawo. Wa ta kahibawo unsay problema sa ilaha mao na ingon siya ato,” he said.

(Let us not judge her immediately. We have yet to determine if she had a personal problem at home which may have contributed to her behavior.)

Vallejos slapped Sabucido after the latter allegedly did not heed her signal to stop and make way for pedestrians near SM City Consolacion in Barangay Lamac.

Sabucido was detained for disobedience. (REV / LMY)
