TWO women were killed, while three others were hurt during an accident involving a passenger bus and a motorcycle in Barangay Bogo, Argao in Southern Cebu on Friday morning, May 17.

Marilou Campomanes, a resident of Minglanilla; abd Trinidad Quevido, 23, a resident of Barangay Consolacion, Dalaguete; were pronounced dead on arrival when they were brought to the Isidro C. Kintanar Memorial Hospital in Argao town.

Police Major Rolan Aliser, Argao Police Station chief, told SunStar Cebu that Campomanes was onboard a motorcycle driven by Jonard Maliao, 28, and were proceeding towards Dalaguete town when they encountered a Ceres passenger bus driven by Ryan James Pangilinan, 37, traveling at the opposite direction at around 10:45 a.m. on Friday.

Maynopas said Maliao was overtaking a tanker in front of him upon reaching Barangay Bogo.

But as he attempted to return to his own lane after successfully overtaking the tanker, Maliao was suddenly sideswiped by the passenger bus driven by Pangilinan.

Due to the impact, Pangilinan lost control of the bus, which rammed towards some motorcycles parked in the sidewalk.

Two drivers of the motorcycles, who remained unidentified until now, were immediately brought to the hospital by bystanders.

Quevido, who was just standing at the sidewalk, was also strucked by the out-of-control bus but died later.
