AN UNIDENTIFIED man was shot dead by an unidentified assailant in Sitio Bato, Barangay Ermita in Cebu City at dawn Saturday, Oct. 26, 2019.

Police Staff Sergeant Joel Perolino of the Carbon Police Station said they had yet to identify the victim whom witnesses only referred to as “Bunso.” Perolino said “Bunso” was reportedly playing video games in the area when an unidentified man suddenly approached him and shot him several times with a pistol.

Bunso was still able to run a few meters away from the suspect and was able to reach the coast which was just nearby, where he jumped.

The assailant reportedly chased and fired at the victim as he was jumping off the coast.

The assailant immediately fled from the scene.

Residents and barangay officials immediately went to the coast to help the victim, who sustained numerous gunshot wounds on his back and chest.

Bunso was brought to the Cebu City Medical Center but died just upon arrival.

Perolino said that they found out from residents living near the crime scene that “Bunso” was reportedly involved in a series of thefts in the area, adding that his murder may be due to a possible personal grudge. (from BBT of Superbalita Cebu/JKV)
