A WAREHOUSE in Sitio Kagape, Barangay Paknaan, Mandaue City went up in smoke last Thursday evening.

Damage to property was estimated at P2.5 million. The Mandaue City Fire Department received the alarm at 10:21 p.m.

The fire was then raised to second alarm. Firefighters controlled the fire at 11:22. SFO1 Edgar Vergara, of the Mandaue City Fire Department, said the warehouse was owned by Richard Ng.

It was made of wood and fabric. The caretaker of the warehouse, Miole Tristan, told fire investigators that last Thursday morning, a utility pole of the Visayan Electric Co. near the warehouse fell down.

The problem was fixed. That night, when Tristan switched on the main circuit of the warehouse, there was an explosion at the ground floor of the two-storey building.

The fire followed. Nobody was reported injured in the incident. No other structures nearby were damaged. FMMD, USJ-R Mark Joven Igot
