IRKED by her husband’s ugly attitude, a woman stabbed him outside their residence in Barangay Tisa, Cebu City past 1 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 26, 2020.

The incident made Jerome (real name withheld) realize he could have died at the hands of his wife. Luckily, the wounds were not fatal.

Before the incident, Jerome’s family had celebrated the 12th birthday of his eldest child, a daughter, on Wednesday night, Nov. 25.

Jerome, 36, gathered his friends and they drank alcoholic beverages outside his house. The drinking spree rolled past midnight, Nov. 26, the police investigation showed.

Drunk, Jerome’s legs betrayed him. He then slept outside his house.

The wife woke up past 1 a.m., and she got out of bed after finding herself alone. She opened the door and found her husband sleeping outside their house.

The wife awakened her husband, asking him to go inside their house so he could sleep properly; however, Jerome, angry that his slumber was disturbed, responded by attempting to hit his wife with a plastic chair.

Stunned and mad at her husband’s behavior, the wife walked to the kitchen, grabbed a knife and stabbed Jerome, hitting him in the left shoulder.

Investigator John Eric Samosa of the Labangon Police Station visited Jerome in the hospital to ask him whether he would press charges against his wife. Jerome decided to forgive his wife, telling Samosa that he was worried about their children.

The police released Jerome’s wife from the detention cell past 5 p.m. Thursday. She told the police that Jerome had often physically hurt her every time he was drunk. (BBT / KAL)
