Yacht ran aground, towed to safety

SIX Chinese nationals and three Filipino crew were rescued from a yacht that ran aground off Bansaan Island, Talibon, Bohol last Saturday night.

Brp Capones, a boat from the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) 7 that was docked in Cebu City, towed mv Mags Royal to safety yesterday morning.

PCG 7 personnel found a nine-by-six-inch hole in the hull near the rudder of mv Mags Royal, which has a 38.6 gross tonnage.

Lt. Junior Grade Mike Encina, the PCG 7 spokesperson, said the distress call was received at 8 p.m. last Saturday.

The names of the Chinese tourists and the Filipino crew were not released, but Encina said they are all safe. (KAL)
