CRIME took a nap in Cebu City and Cebu Province when eight-division champ Manny Pacquiao fought American boxer Keith Thurman in Las Vegas, Nevada on July 21, 2019.

However, two men in Cebu City suffered heart attacks after the match.

Police Major Randy Caballes, chief of the Cebu City Police Office-Operations Branch, said a “zero crime” incident was recorded in the city during the actual Pacquiao-Thurman fight, or between 11 a.m and 1 p.m.

Motorists, he said, experienced smooth traffic flow as most of the residents were glued to their television sets, watching the fighting senator.

Cebu Police Provincial Office Director Roderick Mariano also said no crimes were recorded in the province during the boxing match.

“Before 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., I did not receive any report,” he said.

Pacquiao’s latest victory excited some of Cebu City residents; but two men who were reportedly too happy suffered heart attacks.

Lorenz Dizon, who watched the fight in Barangay Kalunasan, died after suffering a heart attack on his way home around 1:40 p.m.

Dizon, 41, was rushed to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center, but he was dead on arrival.

Margarito Casquejo, 60, was brought to the Cebu City Medical Center after he also suffered a heart attack around 1:30 p.m.

Casquejo was reportedly watching the fight on pay-per-view in Barangay Sawang-Calero. As of this writing, the police have yet to receive the latest medical bulletin on Casquejo. (WBS, AYB OF SUPERBALITA CEBU)
