I WRITE in response to the furor engulfing my property along A.S. Fortuna St. In his column published on Feb. 14, 2020, Bobby Nalzaro insinuated a “conspiracy” to undermine the lease of Mr. Gerard Tan whose tire showroom suffered damage as a result of the excavation works by a land developer nearby.

For the record, there is no conspiracy. There is only this fact: Mr. Tan’s lease is up and I’m kicking him out of my property because he reneged on his obligation to transfer the building’s ownership to me back in 2015. It was stipulated in the first lease contract that I become the owner of the building upon expiration of the period, thereof, and he was, and still is, under obligation to transfer the title thereof to me. But he failed to do so.

I was the one who instructed the developer to cease the restoration of his showroom in December for the reason that I want the developer to pay me the cost of the building instead of giving it to Mr. Tan who is not the real owner.

If Bobby Nalzaro is looking for a villain, he should seriously consider Mr. Tan who is now suing me to force a lease extension.

At 76 years old, I don’t need this unwelcome disturbance in my retirement, but I intend to answer his baseless, ridiculous and preposterous claim and see him in court. (By Billy Perez)
