HOW nice it is to read about an intelligent literate man among our politicians. It truly is a refreshing change from the usual ugly talk prevalent among our politicians, all the way up to the President.

Regarding his resignation from Sinulog management, Vice Mayor Michael Rama talked about having “crossed the Rubicon,” which shows he knows ancient history.

He also used the term about the “die being cast (die being the singular of the plural dice) which Julius Ceasar is said to have declared when crossing the Rubicon.

Mr. Rama also knows his Shakespeare when he declared his wish that “all’s well that ends well.”

Furthermore, he knows British English when he said that feuding isn’t his “cup of tea,” adding the baseball Americanism that “it’s their ballgame.” (Everyone knows the British drink tea, while the Americans prefer coffee.)

All this shows that certain Cebuanos view the Sinulog so seriously, it prompts politicians like the refreshing Mr. Rama to wax lyrical.
