Three teams logged the most quarterfinal wins in the opening day of the three-day Bogo City Invitational Amateur Boxing Tournament 2022 on Friday, April 8, 2022.

City of Bogo, Team Pacquiao Chao Sy and Team Edcel Tuñacao had three victories in the quarters during the yearly tournament held at the Bogo City Sports Complex in Bogo City, Cebu.

Bogo’s Clinton Martinez walked away with a split decision over James Andaya, Bogo’s Jeric Noynay also won by split decision over Angelo Pilapil and John Pilapil of Bogo scored a first round technical knockout of Francis Diorante.

John Kevin Jimenez, Johnro Taneo and Jefrey Jimenez won for Team Pacquiao Chao Sy.

John Kevin outclassed Sean Oneal Abello by unanimous decision, Taneo won by split decision over Jay Lord Florendo and Jefrey stopped Jim Andrejas in the third round.

John Paul Sarigumba, Janz Jezreel Quilaton and Justine Lumanao logged three wins for Team Edcel Tuñacao.

Sarigumba beat Keith De Lara by unanimous decision, Quilaton defeated Rolando Escoril by unanimous decision and Lumanao squeaked past Junrel Labajo by split decision.

In other results, Team Edmund Villamor’s Kenneth Morales beat James Andaya by unanimous decision, Mark Philip Yray beat Sherwin Dacullo by unanimous decision, John Ryan Baricuatro stopped Jay Lord Florendo in the second round, Kevin Sumalinog beat

Jonwel Montefolka by split decision and Kent Albert Billeta defeated Mark Noel Halikan by unanimous decision.
