ALL things are set for the inaugural Aloysian Sports Grassroots Invitational Tournament, an event that will be attended by different clubs and schools in Cebu on May 17 to 19 at the Sisters of Mary School (SMS-Boystown) in Tungkop, Minglanilla, Cebu.

SMS athletic director Van Halen Parmis told SunStar Cebu on Thursday that various schools and ball clubs have already confirmed their participation in the three-day event.

Among the schools that are attending are Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu, Cebu Institute of Technology-University and Southwestern University-Phinma.

The multi-sporting meet for the 16-Under and 12-Under athletes will feature athletics, arnis, basketball, chess, sepak takraw, table tennis, volleyball, football and weightlifting.

“Around five schools are joining, while the rest are club-based teams. We will have our final meeting next week to finalize the list,” said Parmis.

He said for individual sports, weightlifting has the most number of participants followed by arnis.

“The medals have arrived. We are all set for the event. What we are waiting for now is the confirmation of the other teams, especially the club-based,” he said. (RSC)
