“ALA on Tour” will kick off ALA Promotions’ calendar of boxing shows for 2019.

“ALA on Tour” is ALA Promotions’ new boxing series and will debut in March, headlined by Albert Pagara.

“Yes, we are looking at early March, headlined by ‘Prince’ Albert Pagara,” ALA Promotions president Michael Aldeguer told SunStar Cebu. “A lot of cities would want to host the ‘ALA on Tour’ especially in the areas of Luzon and Mindanao wherein they have not experienced an ALA event. We are looking at cities where we have not held an event in the past. We should know by next week for the venue.”

The 24-year-old Pagara has won five straight fights since suffering his first career loss in 2016, an eighth round knockout in the hands of Cesar Juarez.

Pagara won both of his fights last year, a third round stoppage of Laryea Odoi and a first round knockout of George Krampah.

“It will not be a title fight. Most probably an Asian opponent,” said Aldeguer.

Pagara is already rated No. 2 in the World Boxing Organization (WBO) super bantamweight division, wherein Diego dela Hoya is ranked ahead of him and Emanuel Navarette is the current titleholder.

“The goal is to keep Albert busy and see where he is at. He is ranked WBO No. 2 now, so it’s important to see if he’s ready for another title shot. But he’s not the only focus we have right now. KJ Cataraja will be pushed too, as well as Jeo Santisima. There’s Melvin Jerusalem and other fighters such as Fil-Jap Go Hosaka and Christian Bacolod,” said Aldeguer. “Every fight is important for Albert at this time. Not sure on who will be in the card yet.”

The two other boxing shows of ALA Promotions are the long-running Pinoy Pride series and the Idol series, which feature some of the most promising young fighters in the country. (EKA)
