THE boys’ defending champion University of San Carlos (USC) Baby Warriors asserted their dominance in the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi), a week after winning the gold medal in the Batang Pinoy National Championships in Baguio City.

The Baby Warriors scored a commanding straight sets win, 25-14, 25-12, over the Cebu Doctors’ University (CDU) Stallions at the USC gym yesterday, to clinch their second victory in as many games.

This was only the second game for USC as some of their players were in Baguio City for more than a week as they represented the Cebu City Niños in the Batang Pinoy National Championships, where they had a confidence-boosting win over Davao in the finals.

After the win, USC is now a game behind the league-leading University of Southern Philippines-Foundation (USP-F), which holds a clean 3-0 (win-loss) card.

The Southwestern University (SWU-Phinma) Cobras also has a 2-0 card but that could change as they were set to play the Cebu Institute of Technology-University (CIT-U) at press time.

In the girls’ division, the Sacred Heart School Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) Magis Eagles and the University of San Jose Recoletos (USJ-R) Baby Jaguars each inked a win to share the lead in the standing.

The Magis Eagles defeated USC in straight sets, 25-17, 25-19, to improve their record to 4-1, while the Baby Warriors dropped to 2-2 card.

The Baby Jaguars annihilated Cebu Eastern College (CEC) Dragons also in straight sets, 25-5, 25-6, to improve to 4-1 record. CEC fell to 0-4 haul.

SWU sneaked past the University of Cebu (UC) Webmasters, 25-16, 25-20, to even their record to 2-2. UC dropped to 2-3 slate. RSC
