SOUTH Division champion Carcar City and the North Division champion Mandaue City will begin their clash for the 1st Governor’s Cup Volleyball Tournament title on May 28 at the Carcar City Municipal Gym.

Carcar City earned the right to host the Game 1 of the best-of-three championship match after a draw by the coaches the other day. Mandaue City will host Game 2 on May 30 at the Mandaue City Sports and Cultural Complex.

If there will be a Game 3, the match will be played in a neutral ground at the University of San Carlos (USC) gym on June 1.

Mandaue City and Carcar City will battle for the first Governor’s Cup volleyball title and the P300,000 purse.

Mandaue City made it to the championship round after beating the determined Catmon in Game 3 of the North Division Finals last May 21. The Mandaue City volleybelles swept the quarterfinals with a 5-0 win-lose card.

Carcar City had the same story as they also needed three games to beat Argao on the separate South Division Finals. Carcar City finished off Argao on their home turf in Game 3 at the Carcar City Sports Complex last Sunday.

Carcar City also finished the South Division quarterfinals with a 5-0 slate. (RSC)
