Sunnexdesk

JOHNRIEL Casimero will once again be fighting on the road as he takes on Zolani Tete in an World Boxing Organization (WBO) bantamweight championship bout in London, England on Nov. 23, 2019.

The winner of the fight becomes the sole bantamweight champion of the WBO. Tete is the regular champion, while Casimero is the interim titleholder.

Frank Warren’s Queensberry Promotions, which promotes Tete, got the rights to promote the fight after winning the purse bid. Warren outbid TGB Promotions after offering $301,000 to promote the fight. TGB Promotions came up short with a $258,500 bid.

Even though Casimero will be fighting in enemy territory, he seemed excited as he posted a link of Warren winning the purse bid along with a picture of Tete on Facebook.

Although Tete is a South African, he will have a hometown edge because he has been fighting in the UK in six of his last nine fights since 2015.

The 30-year-old Casimero, however, is no stranger to fighting in enemy soil. He has been in world championship fights all around the world - China, US, Nicaragua, South Africa, Mexico, Argentina, Thailand and England. (EKA)
