Cebu Sharks remain optimistic about playoff chances

Jonas Panerio

THE Cebu Sharks-Casino Ethyl Alcohol tries to get some semblance of consistency going when it tackles the winless Soccsksaergen Marlins in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League Lakan Season at the Strike Gym in Bacoor, Cavite on Friday, October 4, 2019.

Languishing near the bottom of the standings in the South division with a 5-9 record, the Sharks are still hoping they could vie for a spot in the playoffs.

The opportunity to finally get something going is ripe on Friday afternoon as they battle a Marlins team that has yet to win a single game in 14 tries this season.

Veteran gunner Patrick Cabahug says the team is preparing hard and is taking no chances against the Marlins.

“Every day, we’ve been practicing our team defense. We have also been taking a look at the different tendencies of our opponents,” said Cabahug.

More than any particular strategy, Cabahug is hoping the team could finally come together and play as a unit.

“We have to have unity and trust each other,” he added. (SunStar Cebu)
