Diaz to hold weightlifitng clinic

OLYMPICS silver medalist Hidilyn Diaz won the gold medal in the 58-kilogram weight class of the women’s senior division of the Philippine National Games (PNG) weightlifting competition held in the City of Naga yesterday.

Diaz lifted 90 kg. in snatch and 115 kgs. in the clean and jerk.

The Olympian is in Cebu not only for the PNG but also to conduct a weightlifting clinic.

The event will be held on May 30 in the Cebu City Sports Complex with the help of Cebu Weightlifting Federation.

Diaz will be one of the speakers along with Judith Sulla, a former member of the Asian Weigthlifting Federation and the CWA secretary general, and Pio Solon, a sports science expert and founder of Epic Fitness.

One of Diaz’s dreams is for weightlifting to be included in the Palarong Pambansa and collegiate competitions in the country.

Diaz is planning to have more seminars for coaches and a camp for all who want to join weightlifting. (Yvonne Inosante, CNU Intern)
