SONIA Gakenholz and Ed Dilla started their year on a high note after named the women’s and men’s Bowler of the Month for January in the Cebu Tenpin Bowling Association (Cetba) Thursday Group at the SM City Bowling Center.

The monthly winners have assured a slot in the Thursday Group Grand Finals late this year.

Senior bowler Gakenholz finished with a total score of 855 to win the women’s division while Dilla ruled the men’s side after scoring 972 in a five-game series. Johna Calipay and Baby Bacon finished as runners-up to Gakenholz after scoring 699 and 645, respectively.

The 14-handicapper Gakenholz took the lead from the get-go, scoring 149. She did not turn back from there with rounds of 166, 165, 148 and 157.

On the other hand, senior bowler Dilla, a 30 handicapper, scored rounds of 165, 181, 179, 151 and 146 for a 972.
