Greywolves triumphant in opening of CYBL Division 1 tournament

The Greywolves pulled the rug from under the CHBC Juniors squad, 62-59, at the start of the 2022 Cebu Youth Basketball League Division 1 tournament last Friday at the Capitol Parish Gym.

The Greywolves brought their game up another notch in the third period as they uncorked a massive 26-4 run to turn the tide in their favor and eke out the victory.

Joseph Calo-oy led the way for the Greywolves with 22 points and four steals, while Rizarri Brock helped out with an impressive double-double of 10 points and 12 rebounds.

CHBC Juniors was led by Damian Belano—the son of former PBA guard Felix “Donbel” Belano—who had 24 points.

In other games, the CHBC Passerelle picked up an 83-58 win over Got Shot. Shawn Ayuda made the most out of his minutes as he compiled 20 points in just 12 minutes. Xander Magbanua added 10 markers for CHBC Passerelle.

Meanwhile, RonBucz-A routed A1, 90-62. Khian Panerio paced the winning side with 15 points, nine rebounds, and three steals. John Bual and Carl Cortes also did damage with 14 and 13 points, respectively.

Chino Larrobis topscored for A1 with 18 markers.
