Juan Gomez de Liano released by Tokyo Z in Japan B.League

Jonas N. Panerio

TALENTED guard Juan Gomez de Liano is now officially a free agent after he was released from his contract by the Tokyo Z in the B.League in Japan.

In a statement, the team explained that the decision was a mutual one between the organization and the left-handed guard from the University of the Philippines.

“We have decided to cancel the contract for the B.League 2020-21 season after a mutual agreement with Juan Gomez De Liano,” read the team’s statement. “We are in the middle of the season, but thank you for your support for Juan Gomez De Liano.”

De Liano’s stint with the Earthfriends was, by and large, a forgettable one. He played just 17 games in the B.League, and had averages of 5.3 points, 2.4 assists, and 2.2 rebounds per game in just 16 minutes of game time. He was last seen with Tokyo Z last Dec. 5 but did not play in that match.

Not long after, he was placed in health and safety protocols after coming into close contact with a teammate who tested positive for Covid-19.

Tokyo has not had a great season so far, with just five wins to their name against 25 losses.
