FORMER amateur standout Criztian Pitt Laurent continues his unbeaten streak in the pro ranks after an impressive fifth round knockout finish of journeyman Ernie Sanchez on Oct. 23, 2021 in General Santos City.

The 21-year-old Laurente targeted Sanchez’s body and hurt him on numerous occasions. But in the fifth round, Laurente landed a bone-crushing right hook to the body that ended the fight.

Laurente remained unbeaten with a record of 8-0 with five knockouts, while Sanchez suffered his fifth straight loss and dropped to 19-17-1 with 10 knockouts.

After the impressive victory, Laurente will be fighting for a Philippine belt before the end of the year.

“He’ll be fighting for a Philippine championship in his next fight,” Laurente’s promoter Gerry Peñalosa told SunStar Cebu.

“The plan is on Dec. 18 either in Manila or General Santos City. But it still all depends on the IATF guidelines.”

Laurente continues to prove that he’s a legitimate fighter at the pro level. He had a very impressive campaign in the amateur ranks, wherein he was a member of the national boxing team and competed internationally in the AIBA Youth Boxing Championships, Asian Junior Boxing Championships, Children of Asia International Games and the Asian Youth Boxing Championships. He made his pro debut in 2019 with a stunning first round knockout of Rey John Indita. (EKA)
