Lava wins silver in world meet

FORMER world champion Glen Lava has done it again for the Philippines after giving the country its first ever medal in the 2018 World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships in Taipei City, Chinese-Taipei.

Lava, along with Ernesto Guzman and Jean Pierre Sabido, bagged the silver medal in the Recognized Poomsae. The Philippines lost to Korea with a score of 7.090 to 7.340. The Philippines defeated Spain, 7.340 to 7.010, in the opening round and outlasted Iran with a score of 7.320 to 7.280 in the next round.

Lava is a three-time gold medalist in the World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships, winning in team events in 2013 in Indonesia, 2014 in Mexico and 2016 in Peru.

The other Cebuanos who are also seeing action in the world poomsae meet are one-time world champion Rinna Babanto, McAvynger Alob, Aidaine Laxa, Johann Concepcion, Alyssa Llenes and Francis Arquero. EKA
