Miado stops Williams in 3rd round

JEREMY Miado moved his way up in the ONE Championship strawweight ladder after an impressive third-round stoppage win over No. 5 rated Danial Williams in one of the undercard bouts of ONE on Prime Video 3 on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2022, at the Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Miado, who trains out of Marrok Force in Bangkok, Thailand, landed a left hook-right straight combination that dropped a bloodied Williams that forced referee Herb Dean to stop the fight at the 31-second mark of the third round.

The fight was an all-out war between two elite strikers but Miado walked out of the cage as the better striker and the better fighter that night.

After the fight, Miado let it be known that he wants bigger fights and against one of the top contenders in his division. He wants to see action in the upcoming ONE 164 show on Dec. 3 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City. That show is headlined by a title defense of ONE strawweight champion Joshua Pacio against No. 1 contender Jarred Brooks.

Miado will most likely break into the top five of the strawweight division. Currently ranked No. 2 is Bokang Masunyane, No. 3 is Hiroba Minowa and No. 4 is Gustavo Balart.

Miado won his fourth straight fight and improved to 12-4, while Williams dropped to 6-2.

Meanwhile, the main event bout between ONE bantamweight champion John Lineker (35-9) and No. 2 ranked Fabricio Andrade (8-2) ended in a no contest.

Lineker couldn’t continue the third round after Andrade landed an unintentional knee to the groin of the Brazilian champion.

In the co-main event, Regian Eersel (59-4) became a two-sport world champion in ONE Championship after winning the ONE lightweight Muay Thai belt with a split decision over Sinsamut Klinmee (80-17-3).

Eersel is also the ONE lightweight kickboxing champion.
