Ngoi rules 1st Cebu Int'l Bowling tilt

VISITING bowler Alex Ngoi Jr. of PBA-Jackson Tours ruled the Open Masters division of the 1st Cebu International Bowling Tenpin Championship 2019 at the SM City Cebu Bowling Center.

Ngoi defeated John Galindo of Cebu Tenpin Bowling Association (Cetba), 222-212, in the championship match to win the crown and the P500,000 cash purse.

Ngoi of Manila got an outright final berth after topping the eight-game qualifying with a total of 1,769 from rounds of 227, 228, 200, 220, 183 228, 221 and 225.

The third-seeded Galindo made it to the championship round after beating second-seeded Dianne Galendez-Lim and sixth-seeded George Mañozo in the semifinals. Galindo scored 206 while Lim and Mañozo had 188 and 180, respectively.

Mañozo had to beat fifth-seeded Archy Nasala and fourth-seeded Benshir Layoso in the quarterfinals. He scored 185 against Layoso’s 179 and Nasala’s 152.

Galindo bagged second place and the P200,000 cash prize, while Lim won third place and P100,000. The fourth to 12th placers also received cash prizes.

The bowling event was held last June 6 to 16 at the SM City Cebu Bowling Center and the SM Seaside Bowling& Leisure Center. (RSC)
