PBA to hold triple-headers until 3x3 gets underway

Sunnexdesk

The 46th season of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) will have triple-headers on its schedule for four times a week as it seeks to cram in two conferences this year.

The league will finally be coming off the wraps on July 16 and league commissioner Willie Marcial revealed that they would be playing triple-headers on Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays until the PBA 3x3 tournament gets going a month from now. By then, they would only have double-headers.

The matches will start at 12:30 p.m. with players, coaches, and league officials strictly mandated to adhere to the home-venue-home format. Violators will receive a sizable P75,000 fine and a 10-day suspension. Games on Sunday, meanwhile, will tip off at 2:30 p.m.

The opening of the 46th season will be done without any pomp and grandeur due to the limited number of people allowed inside the venue. A modest ceremony will commence at 11 a.m. followed by the games. This means that the traditional team parade, which typically features muses, will not be done this season. (JNP)
