The Philippines made history yet again after winning the Asean Football Federation (AFF) Women's Championship for the first time since its inception in 2004 after a 3-0 victory over perennial contender Thailand in front of a huge crowd at the Rizal Memorial Stadium in Manila.

Center back Jessica Cowart scored the opening goal in the seventh minute with a header from a corner kick by skipper Tahnai Annis.

Forward Katrina Guillou added another witja strike in the middle in the 19th minute.

Striker Sarina Bolden, the tournament's leading scorer, put the nail on the coffin with a header in the 88th minute coming off a corner kick by Jacklyn Sawicki.

The Philippines earlier this year qualified for the 2023 Women's World Cup, also a first in Philippine Women's football history.
