THE Raptors slipped past the Scorpions, 80-76, to move up to third place in the standings in the Elite Basketball Club Cebu City Season 15 at the Visayas Glass Gym in Guadalupe on Sunday, October 27, 2019.

The Raptors led most of the way until the Scorpions clawed their way back into the ballgame to tie things up at 76-all. However, Jaypher Ocanada and former University of San Carlos Warriors forward Sam Hermosa came up with clutch baskets to lift the Raptors to victory, their second in three games.

Hermosa ended up with 24 points, nine rebounds, three assists, two steals and a block. He got help from Johncle Molero who had 13 markers and Ocanada and Jonas Panerio who had 12 markers each.

Keaton Taburnal paced the Scorpions, which fell to 1-2, with 32 points, while Kim Trigue and Paul Torrecampo added 16 and 15 points, respectively.

In the other game, the Sharks barged into the win column with a rousing 83-64 win over the Rams. RV Dolloso led the Sharks with 25 points, eight boards, six assists and two steals while Shann Tan contributed 21 markers.

Oliver Sanoy was the lone bright spot for the Rams with 38 points. The Sharks and the Rams have identical 1-2 cards. (JNP)

WHERE’S THE WATER? Water is sparse at the Jaclupan wellfield in Talisay City in this photo provided by the Metropolitan Cebu Water District (MCWD) on Friday, April 26, 2024. Completed in 1998, MCWD’s Jaclupan facility, officially known as the Mananga Phase I Project, catches, impounds and pumps out around 30,000 cubic meters of water per day under normal circumstances. However, on Friday, MCWD spokesperson Minerva Gerodias said the facility’s daily production had plummeted to 8,000 cubic meters per day, or just about a quarter of its normal capacity, as Cebu grapples with the effects of the drought caused by the El Niño phenomenon, which is expected to persist until the end of May. The facility supplies water to consumers in Talisay City and Cebu City. /
